Measures taken for extensive renovations at The Golf Club at Circle C

Austin, TX February 13, 2004--The Golf Club at Circle C, an 18-hole daily fee public course designed by Jay Morrish located in Southwest Austin, announces extensive renovations to the course and on-site amenities in an effort to restore the club to its former prominence in Austin.

Under the new leadership of George “Chip” Gist, General Manager and Director of Golf, The Golf Club at Circle C hired Carter Morrish, son of Jay Morrish, the original course designer, to restore the integrity and aesthetic appeal of the course.

Included in the renovations was the restoration of all 55 bunkers on the course. The drainage was repaired and all bunkers were replaced with new sand that is overall more aesthetically pleasing but also more playable. “The bunkers had really lost their integrity over time,” states Mr. Gist of the improvements recently completed.

The driving range was doubled in size and scope and completed with improved turf quality and new range balls. A private teaching area was added along with 120 feet of artificial turf for training in inclement weather.

Also included in the overall restoration of the club was the expansion of the on-site Pro Shop and a range of products and services. Apparel and equipment available in the shop have been expanded to include the latest lines of name brands including Titleist, Callaway, Byron Nelson, EP Pro and FootJoy. Services now include club fitting, handicap services as well as custom orders.

Finally, the recent upgrade of the food and beverage service from a snack bar to a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner rounds out the enhanced golf experience at The Golf Club at Circle C. The improvements made at the club reinforce the commitment to raising the level of service and standards offered to members and guests.

“Providing a first rate golf experience is what drives us,” explains Gist, General Manager. “We believe in making investments and changes necessary to achieve that goal, and we will continue this process into the future.”
